Mission
The Next Generation Aviation Research and Technology Park will cement New Jersey's already established reputation as a center for cutting-edge research and technology commercialization in the world of avionics.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) William J. Hughes Technical Center, a 5,000 acre campus in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, has been the nation's premier laboratory complex for research, development, testing and evaluation of air transportation systems for the past 50 years. The Tech Center is leading the testing and prototype development of the actual systems that will make the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) a reality. It will leverage significant research dollars from the Federal Government and a major corporate and university academic presence at the Aviation Park that will collaborate on the commercialization of this and other technology.
To fulfill the mandate of transforming the national and global air transportation system to make it more efficient, more sustainable and safer the Federal Government has appropriated nearly $1 billion dollars for NextGen development alone in 2010.
