The group pooled its resources, supplemented by non-FAA grants, and engaged a nationally recognized consulting team to undertake an independent feasibility study.

The study looked at the potential demand for a research park and the economic implication of siting a park near the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center.

The feasibility study reported the following conclusions:

1. It is feasible to establish an Aviation Research and Technology Park on the 58-acre site provided by the FAA.
2. The site has access to the Federal laboratories at the Tech Center.
3. The site has the capacity to accommodate 400,000 square feet of lab and support space.
4. More than 2,000 new, high-skilled jobs might be created at build-out adding to the existing labor force of 3,000 at or in support of the Tech Center.
